Name given to the bombing raid carried out by 617 Squadron RAF using the 'bouncing bomb'. It targeted the Mohne, Sorpe and Eder dams in the Ruhr area in an attempt to cripple German industry. Although two of the dams were breached causing considerable damage it was not as disruptive as had been anticapated.
